Dear Legionnaire, 

 

 

 

There will be a National POW/MIA Recognition Day observed on the third Friday in September. It honors those who were prisoners of war (POWs) and those who are still missing in action (MIA). It is most associated with those who were POWs during the Vietnam War. The POW/MIA flag will be raised, September 20th at 1:00pm. We meet at the Museum and walk down to the Vietnam Veteran Memorial on the corner of Main & C. Street, or you can meet at the Memorial.

 

Our next Legion meeting will be Wednesday Oct. 2nd, 7:00pm in the meeting room of the Independence Heritage Museum. The Museum is located on the corner of 2nd and C St, in Independence, 281 S. 2nd Street, across from the Post Office.  Additional parking is available by the Post Office. The meeting is kept to one hour.

 

The application for the “The Wall that Heals” Touring Exhibit is still ongoing.

 

The American Legion membership dues letters for 2025 are arriving now. 36 members have renewed for 2025. This is amazing, Thank You.

There is a pancake breakfast at the Monmouth Senior Center the first Saturday of each month; for $10 all-you-can-eat pancakes, eggs, sausage, biscuits & gravy, juice, and coffee.
