Our next legion meeting is on Wednesday – May 1st, at 7:00pm in the meeting room of the Independence Heritage Museum. The Museum is located on the corner of 2nd and C St, in Independence, 281 S. 2nd Street, across from the Post Office. Additional parking is available by the Post Office. The meeting is kept to an hour.There is a 4th meeting about bringing “The Wall That Heals” Touring Exhibit to Independence. This will be held on Thursday, May 7th at 6PM. This meeting will also be held at the Museum. Items up for discussion/decision are:•Application to be filled out and discussed.•Discuss a walkthrough of the soccer field area north of town•Range of dates, June thru September, pick three and have alternative dates. Our American Legion dues will be increasing from $33 to $43 in 2025. This reflects a $5.00 increase in both the National American Legion Dues and Oregon Legion Department. Our local post will remain at $1.00. (National dues - $18.50, Oregon dues - $23.50, local dues $1.00, totaling $43.00).The American Legion has given us an option for the increase. If you renew now, for the next three years, you can renew at the current rate of $33.00 each year a total of $99.00.If you would like this option, you can renew on line, visit legion.org/renew . Or send a check made out to the “American Legion Post 33” to me and I can take care of the 3-year renewal. 1242 D St Independence, 97351. This offer is only good until July 1st. Call me if you have any questions.Eight members have taken advantage of the 3-year renewal option, $99.00.A total of 38 members have renewed their American Legion membership for 2024.There are 8 members yet to renew for 2024 or have expired. There are some members whose membership has expired but you can rejoin at any time. The membership cards will be mailed out with the monthly letter. The American Legion membership & card will allow you in any American Legion Post, both in the U.S. and out of the country.
